Last night I went to the new Star Trek movie with my son.
The ‘old’ Star Trek memories rushed through me – and when the ‘elder’ Spock came on the screen and said his famous “live long and prosper”, my fingers, too, split wide and I was transported back to my old family room – as a shy 13 year old curled up with a book in one hand and an eye on the TV – a brief though powerful full-bodied deja-vu. Memories are like the wormhole in the movie. They transport us through the physical, emotional, sensorial, and mental, realms back and forth between times -from present to past, to present to future.
